The chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Stonegate Financial Group, Jameson Van Houten supplements his responsibilities with the wealth management firm by giving back to his community. A governing board member of Make-A-Wish Arizona, Jameson Van Houten participated in the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and raised more than $82,000 to grant wishes to Arizona children.
For over four decades, the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction has attracted people from around the world by allowing them to engage their interest in automobiles as bidders and spectators. 2014, which marked the 43rd annual event, set several all-time records. The auction, which took place at Barrett-Jackson's 12,000-seat complex in Westworld, featured nearly 1,500 cars being sold for over $100 million. Among the items purchased at the general auction were a 1957 Ford Thunderbird for $300,000, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 for $3.85 million, and a 1969 Corvette race car for $2.86 million.
Some auctions also raised money for charitable purposes. Military groups acquired financial support, as the Armed Forces Foundation received $1 million from the sale of a World War II-era Cessna scout plane and a military truck while the Achilles Foundation of Freedom Team garnered $700,000 from a 2014 COPO Camaro drag race car. Additionally, NASCAR’s Rick Hendrick gave $650,000 to Cornerstone Schools in Detroit in exchange for the first production example of the latest Z/28 Camaro.
